Doctor Alfonso Cañete is a specialist in general pediatrics, gastroenterology and child nutrition with more than 30 years of professional experience.

He obtained his doctorate in Medicine from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Cum Laude), specializing in pediatrics at the La Paz Hospital in Madrid, after passing the MIR exam with 133rd place.

Later, he moved with his family to the United States to work as a pediatrician and complete his training in Gastroenterology and Child Nutrition at the Children's Hospital of Boston, Harvard University. Upon her return to Spain, she joined as Head of the Pediatric Service at the San Rafael Hospital in Madrid , where she carried out her professional work for 5 years. Subsequently, he was appointed managing director in several positions in the public health sector of the Madrid Health Service, being consecutively appointed Managing Director of Area Six of Primary Care (responsible for 46 Health Centers, 850 Professionals, and pannual budget of €93,000,000); Director-Manager of the Central Hospital of the Red Cross (251 beds, 820 Professionals in charge, pannual budget of €40,000,000); and Managing Director of the Príncipe de Asturias Hospital in Alcalá de Henares (601 beds, 1891 professionals in charge, annual budget of €114,000,000). -converted-space">

He continued his professional activity as a pediatrician, being for 15 years Head of the Pediatric Service at the Infanta Sofía University Hospital of San Sebastián de los Reyes, Community of Madrid. He has been Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Rey Juan Carlos University, at the Complutense University and at the European University of Madrid, continuing at the latter university, with the appointment of Full Professor of Pediatrics.

Regarding his training, in addition to multiple professional development and specialization courses as a pediatrician and research, it is worth highlighting several master's degrees in high direction and management of the health sector at the University of Navarra MBA (IESE), at the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona (MADS), at the National School of Health (Carlos III Health Institute. Ministry of Health) and at the University of Alcalá de Henares.

He is the author of various book chapters and several works published in national and foreign magazines and communications at national and international conferences. Member of several national and foreign scientific societies and committees, he has been invited to participate in various round tables and has organized and directed different national and international scientific courses and conferences.

Dr. Cañete is the author of a patent for an invention related to medicine, and has been awarded several recognitions, among which are several awards from Scientific Societies, the Caja Madrid National Award and the National Special Award of the Royal Academy. National of Medicine. 

Currently, Dr. Alfonso Cañete works as Head of the Pediatric Service at the Infanta Sofía University Hospital and as Full Professor of Pediatrics at the European University of Madrid.
